Out of School Activities
As a partnership, we have, along with the schools in the Isis Partnership, East Oxford, now established a tradition of taking part in Cowley Road Carnival, following work with local community visual and dance artists, either during the school day or in after school Carnival clubs. In 2009, 2010 and 2011, the event was Carnival in the Park, which we loved and where all the children concluded the procession by performing on the dance stage.

In 2013, Carnival returned to the Cowley Road and was a visual triumph, with the theme ‘Wheels of Change’ celebrating 100 years of car manufacture in Oxford.

Bigger and better in 2014, more schools than ever joined in ‘Oxford Faces’ and wowed the 35,000 crowd.

2015 was sponsored by Oxford Brookes University in recognition of their 150th anniversary, with the theme of ‘Creating our Future’   We were all there and the crowd was estimated at 40,000!

The Headington Schools are also part of Oxford's Light Night Christmas lights lantern procession, which in 2013 was on Friday 22 November (see photo galleries on the What's on in the community page)

In 2014, although Oxford Light Festival weekend went ahead, sadly street closures and the lantern procession were cancelled. However Wood Farm and Bayards Hill/Cheney were lucky to be involved building large light structures which were displayed over the weekend on the lawn of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History.

In 2015, the procession is back on a small scale, for just 8 primary schools, including Bayards Hill, St Andrew’s and Wood Farm.  Windmill children will be making lanterns to display on the roundabout at The Plain.  Oxford’s Christmas Light Festival is 20-22 November; the lantern procession is at 6.30 on Friday 20 November, leaving from New Inn Hall Street and finishing in Broad Street where there will be a light installation www.oxfordschristmas.com/
